Well the warmer weather has arrived at last, & Pauline is starting to wake the plants up after their winter hibernation. Its been all go the last couple of weeks here as we are getting the sale house cleaned up & filled with all the sales stock ready to open for the season on 1st April.

We are also repotting last years seedlings into bigger pots as they have really grown alot since we put them in the hothouse over the winter. We don't have a huge variety of seedlings yet but are intending to grow more & more  of our stock using seeds from our own plants where possible

Once again another new year comes round & after a long spell of illness John is on the road to recovery & can write the blog page again.

We are always adding new stock to the site & have had a reasonably mild winter this time with few plant losses. The high winds blew some of the panels off one of the greenhouses, but we managed to rescue most of  the young plants housed there.

The competition will be up and running as soon as the cacti start waking up from their winter sleep. Hopefully by the end of March we will have the cacti sales house open as well as the tearoom ( weather permitting) for you to come and see the range of plants and garden accessories we have. All the food we serve is freshly prepared to order and is mostly home made by Pauline

We will be very busy in the meantime potting up all the young cacti that we have grown from seed on the premises

Congratulations to the winner of our summer competition Liz with a wonderful picture of one of her collection of cacti in full flower

liz cacti

As you can see, an absolutely fantastic white flower, about three times the size of the cacti plant. Her prize is one of the Lithops we have on the site, & hopefully she may be persuaded to start collecting these fascinating plants. the common name for these are "Living stones", because that is just what they look like when they are growing in their natural environment. so, we hope you enjoy your prize Liz.
